Charitable Grants

Housing Action Management (HAM) is committed to improving outcomes for people facing housing insecurity. Each month we award one unrestricted grant of up to £500 to a UK registered charity, trust or foundation whose work directly benefits individuals in—or at risk of—temporary or emergency accommodation.

Our aim is to support ex offenders and prisoners, people who have experienced domestic abuse, and those who are currently or have been street homeless. We therefore prioritise projects that create safe pathways into stable housing and long term wellbeing for these groups.

Our aim is to enable community-led projects, promote stability, and enhance the wellbeing of individuals and families facing housing challenges.

Funding Available

  • Amount: Up to £500 per organisation, awarded monthly.

  • Type: One off, grant to be spent within 6 months.

  • Scale: Designed for small, high impact or pilot projects that may not attract mainstream funders.

Who Can Apply?

We welcome applications from UK registered charities, trusts and foundations that:

  1. Deliver services anywhere in the UK.

  2. Work with at least one of the following groups:

    • Ex offenders or people on release from custody

    • Survivors of domestic violence (adults or children)

    • Individuals and families who are street homeless or in temporary/emergency accommodation

  3. Can evidence how their activities connect to housing stability, skills or wellbeing.

What We Fund

Projects must have a clear link to housing‑related support and demonstrate measurable community benefit. Priority areas include:

  • Emergency & Supported Housing - Night shelters, ‘move on’ support, resettlement packs

  • Prison & Through the Gate Programmes - Tenancy readiness training, mentoring, peer support

  • Domestic Abuse Recovery - Safe home setup costs, advocacy, financial resilience courses

  • Skills, Training & Employment - Construction skills certificates, CV clinics, digital inclusion

  • Mental Health & Wellbeing - Counselling, group therapy, trauma informed workshops

  • Animal Assisted Support - Foster schemes for pets of domestic abuse survivors, homeless pet care outreach, rescue animal programmes for prisoners

We are happy to consider innovative, cross‑sector collaborations—especially where lived experience shapes delivery.

Grant rounds open on the 1st of every month and close at 17:00 on the last working day. Decisions are communicated within 14 days; successful applicants receive funds within 7 days of acceptance.
